Warren: Hey guys welcome once again to the Whole Being Series, so today I’m really excited, I always say that, I know but I’m always excited to do this work, so anyway this episode, number 37, is dear to my heart because it’s with one of my childhood friends, person that goes by the name of Dr Amum and I’ve known him most of my life, we grew up around the same area in Harlesden, NW London and we started martial arts pretty much the same time, I start martial arts I think two years before him and we’ve been doing martial arts for 30 years and I’ve known him for more than 30 years and he’s been a great friend we’ve gone through so many schools together, certain spiritual schools, we’ve done martial arts, I’ve trained at his gym, we did filming together, we experienced, we won’t go through it on this episode but hopefully I’ll get him on another one we’ll talk about that but we experienced some amazing spiritual events, I should say, events over the last 10 years. A powerful magical experience. We trained together a lot in martial arts, we did meditative practises a lot together and he move to America, I didn’t even realise but about almost 20 years ago now and so we still see each other now again whenever he comes back to the UK.
Warren: And just an amazing guy he’s grown his business in a phenomenal way. He’s really into his food in his nutrition and so it’s today’s episode we really go into how he built his business the importance of electric foods and green foods, alkaline foods and the way he lives his life the way he grows his business and his perspective on the black community as well because that’s something that obviously is both you know is dear to both for hearts because you know we come from those origins and so he shares his insights on that as well and we talk about martial arts and training and really how he’s built his business where it is right now well so hope you enjoy this episode.
Dr. Amun: My actual birth name is Martin Benjamin AKA Dr Amum but the name Amum actually came from an old ancient Egyptian deity which means hidden, mystery while some of the name Amum comes from Yamiyn meaning faithful like A-min at the end which my last name Benjamin is Benyamiyn in Hebrew and Binyamin in Arabic, so me choosing that when I was still keeping not just cultural but also my birth right.
Dr. Amun: Right now I’m a professional herbalist under the Herbal Academy in Massachusetts, and I’m gonna be going to become a Master registered herbalist in Massachusetts as well as Georgia.
Dr. Amun: Now as you know Physiology has got nothing to do with herbal medicine, physiology has got to do with nutrition, you know, but I found a way to blend them and merge them together…now how can we have these organs, these vital organs, how can we support them, how can we enhance them to detoxify correctly for them to operate correctly.
Dr. Amun: I started to really go into the herbal supplements, the nutritional side and I had a phrase of saying “food is our medicine” and “diet is our prescription” so a lot people were like what do you mean by that, well, you know 90% of the causes of our illness of some health conditions or health challenges is lead down to poor diet, poor nutrition, so if food is our medicine and we learn what to eat, but then now we have to understand servings, portions, preparation and everything and that’s the prescription. I started to put together these concoctions, these elixirs…
Dr. Amun: My first ever client, my first proper client was my father, for me he is looking really healthy I must say, like I see him every so often and he looks good, he was diagnosed in the early 2000s around 2003 2004, I got the phone call, my mum was crying, he as keeled over the floor calling out in pain, black men we don’t talk, we feel embarrassed we feel ashamed. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer stage 1. I was on the plane, came down, I just had to stripe his diet, I put together a formula and I stayed there for as long as I could, eight months later he went back and there was no trace of the cancer and his prostate was reduced. His doctor said to him just keep doing what you’re doing.
Dr. Amun: There’s no scientific data behind it but that is black women metabolise differently, black women are more sensitive to oestrogen, now if there was scientific data to support that then I’m all for it you know but there hasn’t been is just being something that’s been echoed throughout the black community, black women regulate oestrogen at the higher level than white women or any other race of women so you’re going into polymorphism and how this methylation and hydroacylation takes place with them receiving or ingesting and absorbing oestrogen, and how the enzymes aromatases and kicks off …. when you hear these people talk, it sounds medically scientific sound but it really is a string of big words with no actual evidence to support it.
Dr. Amun: However, theory 2 which I think is the is the is the actual fact that and it is when I say racism I’m talking about racism from a social and economic perspective okay when you look at and you’ve heard this term before called food desert, when you look at where food deserts are located it’s usually in the black neighbourhoods, the urban neighbourhoods. Within our black neighbourhoods we have the lowest resources for education, the lowest resources for medical help, the lowest resources for food supplies. We’re over populated with fast food joints…. we tend to have a culture… when you look at it and analyse it, a lot of fried food, BBQ foods, processed foods, and when they go and see their doctors, this is where the racism really kicks in, black women get treated with no empathy by their OBGYN or their gynaecologist…
Dr. Amun: The money will always gonna come, when you worry about money you will never have it, when you don’t worry about money and you love what you do, the universe will have a way, whether you are religious or not, whether you believe in the most high, like me and yourself, or some form of god, Allah, Yahuwah, Jehovah, Christner… we don’t disrespect none of them, we hold respect and value to every one of these doctrines
Warren: I’ve just finished a business course recently and the guy who was teaching us was talking about trust vs authority in the business space and when he talks about low trust vs. high trust. And high trust is saying if you’re saying is fulfilled where your products says it will cure something where you get certain results where it fulfils that role it’s authentic this is building high trust. What he was saying most of the world when it comes to business, it’s built on a different model. We’re actually in high authority and low trust. Authority is how well you market yourself. How many people know who you are, how many followers you have….
Dr. Amun: I find having a clean heart, having good people around doing some exercise, getting some light, reading, meditating, eating real food stay away from processed food, leave those refined sugars, leave those refined carbs, leave it alone, stay away from those sweets, stay away from those cakes, wheat, gluten, ice-cream, cheese, leave those things alone, have real foods, even if you’re not a vegan, don’t kill your food with deep fat frying and grilling. Steam it, bake it, have a lot of vegetables, incorporate vegetables and fruit and super gains, not eating too much, one or two meals a day is sufficient, you don’t have to have four or five meals a day and incorporate some intimate fasting as well and get a good night sleep.
