Spotlight on Nico Becker @Prana Alchemy

I’m Nico of Prana Alchemy, I’ve been with Warren from the beginning, since I’ve started this CHEK journey and it all began with holistic health but over the last two years I’ve been delving more and more into holistic life, especially now since the whole pandemic there isn’t any aspect of life you can ignore or not look at, it’s about how we are living and not just about health but the spiritual meaning of life and exploring that with my clients.
We want to get into the deep questions to help people understand at a level which allows them to heal. For example, many of us are wearing these physiological masks where they are afraid to be themselves, they try to fit in as opposed to stand out – we are not here to fit in – we’re here stand out. So many people are being unauthentic, they are unable to ask these questions of why? We will explore more of this.
My own journey began with my own pain, own suffering and own wound. It came from a place of not fitting in early on in my life, in school, my teens. This led to me to fight sport, because in fight sport you don’t have to fit in – it’s a good place not to fit in, it isn’t a team sport you fight for yourself. Very fast I wanted to become a professional so after school I trained in the Caribbean but it was here, I experienced a near death experience.
After this experience I was even more sure never to go back to normal life, life is short and life can end any day. I want to have an awesome life and I want to stand out and not be someone with this normal life. Trying to get back into professional fighting was tough and I was getting more and more injuries and surgeries so I couldn’t work anymore, this led to a period of depression and loss of confidence and alone in this darkness.
But during the time of darkness, I saw a spiritual aspect which just popped up in you, I saw that life is good and life is meaningful. Life isn’t just suffering. Life can be great and not just suffering. Then I found Paul Chek’s book ‘How to Eat, Move and be Healthy’ and I felt there must be something in there. And I lived it fully from the first day on. I took out a bank loan of $20k and did the course, and it all started. Within a year after everyone who told me my knee would never heal, after one year it was back to 90%, after 18 months I could do pistol squats and jump. I could have gone back into fighting but I wanted to become a coach and educate others.
There are so many inconsistencies within the medical profession. Einstein says “the medical system is the most updated form of ignorance”
Most of the great teachers today have had to go through pain to become those great teachers. Experience supersedes knowledge.
One of the drives I had was to learn from the best teachers. I was very lucky I had a strong drive which led me to Paul Chek and then that led me to you [Warren]. I wanted to learn and go through the coaching program with the best leaders and doing that with you it was my desire to learn and teach others, being with all these amazing humans.
If you want to be an amazing teacher you have to be a great student. You will learn faster than any other way if you are that student.
You can read a thousand books but if you have not had that experience, you will not fully understand what it feels like. You can read as many books on martial arts but if you have not had the training, you won’t know martial arts. You have to experience. Experience supersedes everything else.
You can have deep and meaningful experience in the mundane life. People have found ways to numb the sense because they don’t want to ask the deeper questions. People have now acceptable addictions; we have unacceptable such as alcoholism but we have acceptable ones like gym junkies. People are not living they are surviving.
What is the way out? To find meaning in life? The first way out is to activate the spark within themselves to realise there is a problem, a problem of the way of living, wanting a way out and a solution. But we should never pick the sparkly shiny solution. You need to try things out and follow your soul and calling.
Being a coach or leader, the product is YOU. I have a huge aversion to marketing, the moment we market ourselves we try to project who we are and what we can do and so on and it might be far away from reality. Particularly on social media. I step back from self-promotion because I want to serve and share because there certainly will be elements of dark material of the ego.
It is such an interesting time, for the first-time younger people are overtaking the older generation by development. The main reason is due the internet the open access information, the older generation is not using it in the same way. The internet is exposing us to so many perspectives, you can get any perspective and you can research anything and get opposing views. This growth and movement explode. They are utilising the tools than their older counterparts and because of this the older generation are wasting their knowledge.
Finally, just to summarise what I am doing, lots of things are happening and moving. I continue to do 1-on-1 coaching, one of my favourite things to do – in general I take people on a 3 month process. Most of this is on the alchemy side but also on development and performance, development and healing side of the process. Then another thing, as things start to open up, I am starting to do retreats again. Either 1-on-1 or couples, 3-5 days living on a retreat at an Airbnb. That’s one of the coolest experiences, of course we do coach work but it’s all about living with people, doing the deep work but it’s mainly living and sharing experiences.
